Carmelita R. Sabello, a dedicated pastor and leader of the Moral Values Transformation Program under the province, has made a significant impact in her community through her compassionate actions. Recently, she adopted a woman from Basilan who was in urgent need of medical assistance. Recognizing the importance of providing support and care, Carmelita arranged for her to be sent to a hospital that hosts the Cleft Mission.
This mission is sponsored by the Aguila Shriners of the Misamis Oriental Chapter, alongside the MCFI-Smile Train, a renowned organization committed to providing cleft lip and palate surgeries to those in need. Additionally, the local government unit, led by Governor Peter Unabia, played a pivotal role in facilitating this life-changing endeavor.
Thanks to the combined efforts of these organizations and individuals, the woman underwent a transformative surgery that lasted less than 35 minutes. The successful operation not only addressed her medical needs but also opened the door to a brighter future, demonstrating the power of community support and compassionate leadership. Carmelita’s actions exemplify how one person’s dedication can lead to profound change in the lives of others, inspiring hope and resilience in those who need it most. Through this collaboration, the impact of their efforts will resonate far beyond this single case, highlighting the importance of teamwork in community health initiatives.
