In the early 2006-2007,Dr. Michelle Mitzi Aportadera, our esteemed Medical Director, made a remarkable choice that defined her as a true hero. Despite an invitation to attend a prestigious Smile Train conference in Brazil, she selflessly chose to remain in Marawi, Lanao del Sur, and tirelessly operated on over 60 marginalized patients. Her dedication and commitment to serving those in need have left an indelible mark on all who have had the privilege of working with her.

As the Mission Director and Vice President for Public Relations, I had the honor of witnessing Dr. Aportadera’s unwavering passion for connecting communities with the Maharlika Charity Foundation, thereby expanding our charitable reach. Her selfless actions have brought hope and healing to countless individuals in need.

During our residency days, I had the privilege of serving as Dr. Aportadera’s junior resident. Her exceptional leadership qualities were evident as she skillfully and compassionately cared for our patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Her remarkable leadership and effectiveness in the face of challenging circumstances left an indelible impression on me.

Dr. Aportadera is not just a colleague; she is a dear friend and a beacon of inspiration. Her unwavering dedication to serving those in need has rightfully earned her the title of a Smile Train hero. Her passion for transforming the lives of cleft patients through her surgical expertise is unparalleled.

Today, Dr. Aportadera continues to exemplify her commitment to humanitarian causes as the administrator of the Rizal D. Aportadera Burn Institute. Her leadership in charity and her unwavering dedication to improving the lives of others make her a true hero in every sense of the word.

Dr. Michelle Mitzi Aportadera is not just a medical professional; she is a leader, a hero, and an embodiment of compassion and selflessness. Her tireless efforts continue to inspire us all, and her legacy of service will undoubtedly endure for generations to come.
